Team Interviews: Meet Katya Maslova, iOS Developer

We happily continue our team interviews series! This week we publish the interview of our iOS developer Katya Maslova. Katya is an inquisitive, responsible team member who recently joined our company.
Hi, how are you doing? Guide us through your job journey. What is your current position at the company?
My path began with learning Javascript—I had a great desire to become a front-end developer. During the learning process, I got into the WebUI / NodeJS courses. I tried to write my pet project for the IOS platform and SWIFT turned out to be much more pleasant and interesting to me. So taking a course about SWIFT was a matter of time. (smiles) After finishing the course, I got an interview with ein-des-ein and soon began working on my first project. I am currently holding a position of an IOS developer.
What are your day-to-day tasks and responsibilities?
My daily responsibilities include developing the client application, communicating with the team, as well as constantly looking for opportunities to improve the project.
How did you get into programming? What is the most difficult thing in your job?
I chose programming because many of my friends worked in this field and I liked the flexibility of this profession. Now the most difficult thing is when something isn’t working and you are at home alone, working remotely. Our team communication is much faster in the office for sure!

Can you talk about your most challenging project so far?
My most difficult (but the most interesting!) project was Loyalty. It was a huge project, the app had a lot of functionality so I had a lot of interesting tasks to work on!
What qualities make someone a good iOS developer, in your opinion?
I think that a good developer is interested in making a quality product. Such character qualities as responsibility, perfectionism, sociability, initiative, curiosity are essential for a developer!
How do you keep up with the latest technologies and trends?
I like that our Team Lead and mentors often use something new in our projects. So we are constantly learning. Also, our company library is getting bigger so we can always read all the new books coming out. (smiles) The mentors also recommend books and materials that are worth checking out so thanks to them!
What are your hobbies? How do you spend your free time?
I like long walks with my dog, I also enjoy yoga, tennis, badminton. During stressful weeks, handicrafts help me to find my inner balance too, so I totally recommend trying it out!
